A Responsible Israel, A Ridiculous Hamas

Israel is now attempting to end fighting with Hamas in Gaza by pulling out significant number of IDF (Israeli Defense Troops) troops. Israel is a responsible nation that cares deeply for human rights and wishes to end the bloodshed of innocent Palestinians. I feel however that Israel will once again be drawn into battle again by the aggressive actions of Hamas.

Hamas’ strategy is to garner enough international sympathy for the Palestinians (and international commendation against Israel) in order to gain legitimacy for their cause, which is the destruction of the state of Israel.

I do not believe that Hamas will allow Israel to pull out of the Gaza conflict prematurely. Instead Hamas will, by firing rockets or engaging in other terrorist activities directed toward Israel, will force Israel to continue military operations in Gaza.

When these operations begin again innocent Palestinians will inevitably be killed, such is the nature asymmetric warfare. The international community will then blame Israel for such deaths and (perhaps unintentionally) give a measure of legitimacy to Hamas.

Israel is caught in a Catch-22.

Casualties and Harmful Sympathies

As expected Israel and Hamas, with most fighting taking place in Gaza, remain at “ War”. We have already seen two cease-fires come and go one initiated by Hamas (and broken by them) and one initiated by the United Nations. I suspect we will see a series of faux peace treaties that will continually be broken by ( at least in my opinion) by Hamas.

Israel has twice accepted cease-fires initiated by Hamas only to have them broken. It is clear that Israel wishes for peace. Hamas’ strategy seems to be this; spill enough Palestinian blood to garner international pressures and force Israel to acquiescence to some if not all their demands.

Obtaining skewed casualty ratios is Hamas’ primary tactic. They wish to demonize Israel while at the same time increasing the legitimacy of their cause and organization. From a military and personnel stand point Hamas will surely lose the conflict, it is possible they will win the battle for the hearts and minds of the international community.dededI fear that such tactics will work, as some members of the international community can at times be emotional and short sighted. Hundreds of Palestinian civilians have been killed; while Israel has only suffered sixty-three military deaths and far less civilian ones.

Israel & Gaza: Stripped of Peace

These past weeks have shaken up both Israel and the Gaza Strip. It began with the vicious murders of three Israeli teenagers by a number of unknown Palestinian. Yet the violence did not there. Israeli settlers responded with their own vicious attack, a Palestinian teenager was burned alive by a group of unknown Israeli’s. And yet the violence did not end there.

Hamas and or Palestinian operatives have been launching rockets and drones from the Gaza Strip. Israel responds in the way it must; with airstrikes striking locations throughout the Gaza Strip. The balance of death may remain skewed with approximately 150Palestinian’s dead and zero Israeli’s killed. I cannot in good faith say Israel is responsible for this skewed casualty rate

Israel though made up of Jews, whom are an extremely minority in a hostile land, has turned its nation into a desert fortress protected by that technological marvel the Iron Dome. The Iron Dome is quite simply the world’s must advanced missile defense system. With the Iron Dome, Israel is able to neutralize (almost) every missile launched by Hamas in an attack against the Israeli people.

Hamas, the self proclaimed protector of the Palestinian people, wishes to serve its own agenda of Israeli extermination then care for the welfare of the people of Palestine. This is not an opinion but a statement founded in fact, the past 24 hours have made this clear.

Late last night Israel successfully negotiated a cease-fire with the Egyptian Government whom represented the State of Palestine in the negotiations holds influence with Palestinian leaders. Israeli stopped their airstrikes with the understanding that no more missiles will be launched from the Gaza Strip which is under control of the State of Palestine.

Hamas, the militant arm of the State of Palestine, did not get the memo. Attacks against Israel quickly resumed; Israel (rightfully so) ended the cease fire and has resumed military operations in the Gaza Strip. The drums of war now steadily beat. Rumor has it that Israel will soon launch ground operations against Hamas by invading the Gaza Strip.

Israel cannot be condemned for these attacks or the actions it will soon take nor can the State of Palestine itself be blamed. The blood that will soon be shed, will be shed due to the actions of Hamas who would plunge the Gaza Strip into chaos to launch ineffective missiles against Israel.
